Chefs Omakase Menu
Tokyo Pop - New York, NY
Located in the upper west side, I was aware that it's not a location to find cutting edge Cuisine, but I knew the Chefs work with his previous venture ( Komegashi NY), so I went....
Chef Naka began whipping up an array of dishes from the counter, as well as Hot dishes from the Kitchen. The King Crab Shabu Shabu is to DIE for!!! His Monkfish 'Torchon' with Baby Turnips were just perfectly executed. "Still hungry for more?", he asks.....Silly Chef, Of COURSE!! He then began serving todays fresh Fish as either a Sashimi or a Nigiri. One by one, bite after bite, I was in pure heaven. Honestly, I think I cleared him out of his Mise en Place.
Time for Dessert. Normally, Japanese Restaraunts are not so known for Deserts, but Chef Naka has one that you won't forget; A sweet Egglant, in a Martini Glass, with Frozen Nougat, Mint, Pink Peppercorns, and a Crisp Eggplant Chip. The Chef demonstrates his techniques, his vast knowledge for the Culinary Arts( Not limiting himself to tradition either), and most importantly, he made it all work. It was one of the best meals I had in a while. Will be back for Spring ;-D

Would you eat here again?
